Introduction to the Workshop

This workshop is centered on three core foci:  transnationalism, religion, Asia.  Potential themes and approaches include the following: histories of connection and mobility; geographic flows of labor and migration (urban, regional, global); cultural and moral forms of globalization, and; traveling ideologies of society and social organization. A talented group of historians and ethnographers working on religion and transnational mobility across regions in Asia (South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia) and elsewhere (Middle East, Europe, North America) are invited to the workshop.  The aim of the workshop is to facilitate collaborative discussion centered around papers in progress, rather than a presentation of conference papers.
